Scriptural References About The Holy Names

There are many Vedic references which specifically recommend the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra as the most effective and advantageous means of reaching spiritual realization and counteracting all the problems of this age.

1) All mantras and all processes for self-realization are compressed into the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. (Narada-pancaratra)

2) āpannaḥ saḿsṛtiḿ ghorāḿ
yan-nāma vivaśo gṛṇan
tataḥ sadyo vimucyeta
yad bibheti svayaḿ bhayam

3)Living beings who are entangled in the complicated meshes of birth and death can be freed immediately by even unconsciously chanting the holy name of Kṛishna, which is feared by fear personified.( Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 1.1.14 )

4)My dear King, although Kali-yuga is an ocean of faults, there is still one good quality about this age: Simply by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom.( Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 12.3.51)

5)Those who simply perform kirtana of Sri Visnu’s name may do so because they have no other means of support, and they may be absorbed in sense enjoyment. They may be troublesome to others, bereft of celibacy and other virtues, and outside all dharma. Still, the destination that they achieve cannot be attained by all the combined efforts of religious people.” -Padma Purana

6)Even one who has performed sinful activities always and everywhere attains the supreme abode of Visnu if he performs nama-sankirtana. Nandi Purana
